Roksanda Ilincic 2009 Spring Collection Brings Back Romanticism
Roksanda Ilincic’s runway show brought back the beautiful age of romanticism and took it to a whole new level with her new 2009 Spring collection. The show was staged with arty poise and a defining fashion moment that will live on for some time.
The models walked down and through the Thames waterfront Albion Gallery where the show was being staged and added a surreal and somewhat frightening look to the show as they walked unbalanced on their unsteady platforms. Usually this would detract from a show - but it did a good job of blending in with the clothes they wore and the theme of the show.
Roksanda creates many of her clothes in soft and shiny satin and tulle with ribbons a soft light colors. The cutting of the design looks rather simple - but when you add the decorations strewn across you can’t help but notice how much work was put into it.
“I was not thinking of any specific concept when I designed this collection, it was more a meditation on color, light, space and maybe an idea of the Thirties,” the designer told FWD backstage after the show.
